9. Technical logs and IP addresses
Technical information may be processed in server and security logs when you use BOOKMAX.NET.

10. Inactive accounts and deletion
BOOKMAX.NET deletes accounts that have not been used for an extended period of time. The detailed procedure is described in Section 9 of the Terms of Use.
In general, the deletion procedure begins after eleven months without a login. Before an account is deleted, three warning emails are sent to the email address stored in the account.
The first warning is sent after eleven months without a login and specifies the exact date on which the account will be deleted. A second warning is sent two weeks later, followed by a third warning shortly before the deletion date.
There is always at least one month between the first warning email and the deletion date.
Logging into the account at any time before the deletion date immediately stops the deletion procedure and resets the period of inactivity.
Accounts with an active PREMIUM subscription are not deleted because of inactivity.
If you have ever paid for a PREMIUM subscription, your account is not deleted because of inactivity, even after the PREMIUM subscription has expired.
If all three warning emails are returned as undeliverable, the previously specified deletion date remains unchanged. An undeliverable email does not shorten the deletion period.
On the deletion date the account is locked, not erased. For one month after that date the data stays untouched: you cannot sign in, but nothing is gone yet. If you contact us within that month, we restore the account.
After that month the deletion permanently removes the account and its stored content, including bookmarks, folders, lists, contacts, notes, documents, feeds, tags and uploaded files. From that point the deletion cannot be undone and the deleted data cannot be restored.
Before deletion, you can export your stored data at any time using the export function available in your account settings.
11. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it is processed, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Account data and stored content are generally retained for as long as your account remains active and the data is required to provide the service.
When an account is deleted, the associated data is deleted unless legal obligations or other legitimate legal reasons require continued retention.
Data that must be retained due to statutory retention obligations is retained for the applicable period and subsequently deleted.
Technical logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant operational and security purposes.
12. Data security
BOOKMAX.NET uses appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, alteration or destruction.
Data transmitted between your browser and BOOKMAX.NET is protected using HTTPS encryption.
However, no transmission or storage of data over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are also responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and for taking reasonable steps to protect access to your account.
13. Data transfers
The data required to operate BOOKMAX.NET is hosted within the European Union.
If one of our service providers processes personal data outside the European Economic Area (EEA), such processing will only take place in accordance with the requirements of applicable data protection law.
Where required, appropriate safeguards such as an adequacy decision of the European Commission or Standard Contractual Clauses may be used.
